The address you use to post a message to the list for all to see is: [email protected]
Is there a limit
to the size of the messages I can send to the list?
There are no limitations as to size of
the messages you can send to the list. We just ask that you use common sense and
if very long, put the word "long" at the end the subject line. And
please, if you are on digest mode, be sure NOT to include the entire digest when
you hit reply.
Is there a limit
to the number of times I can post to the list each day?
No, there are no limitations to the number of
times any member can post each day.
Can I send an email attachment
to the list?
No, Socknitters list is set up not to accept attachments.
May I copy a pattern or photo
from a book and send it to the list?
Emphatically no! All patterns and photos published in books, magazines or other
sources are protected by copyright laws that we definitely do not want to
infringe upon.
How do I change to my mail delivery option from Individual to Digest or
vice versa?
Go to http://www.groups.yahoo.com/mygroups.
Click on Edit My Groups at the top of the page and then Digest,
Individual or No Mail/Web Only (see next question) from the drop down menu. You may have to
make up a Yahoo user ID and Password and log in with those before you can go to
the page.
I'm going on vacation and don't want to unsubscribe, but I don't want all that
mail piling up either. What can I do?
You can set your subscription to "no mail." You will still
remain on the roster but won't get mail. To do this,
Go to http://www.groups.yahoo.com/mygroups.
Click on Edit My Groups at the top of the page and then No Mail/Web Only from the drop down menu
at the far right of the page. You may have to make up a Yahoo user ID and
Password and log in with those before you can go to the page.
Is it possible for me
to change my email address or member profile with Yahoogroups?
It is possible, but it's not particularly easy to do. Go to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/
and follow the directions under "How do I add a new email address to my
Yahoo! Groups account? and "How do I remove an email address from my Yahoo!
Groups account?

archives, go to http://www.groups.yahoo.com/mygroups. Click on socknitters and then click on
"Messages" on the left side of the page.
What is the shared file area and where do I find it?
The shared file area is an area maintained by Yahoogroups that allows members to
post any sock knitting related file, so that other members may see it. To look
at the shared files area, go to http://www.groups.yahoo.com/mygroups. Click on socknitters and then click on

Who can add files to the shared file area?

shared files area, the List Mom is the only member of socknitters mailing list
who may add files to the shared
file area at this time. Send any files to be uploaded to: [email protected]
Does Socknitters

What if I have a great pair of socks that I want to see on the Socknitters
Photo Pages
but don't have a scanner or a digital camera.

have a scanner or digital camera, one of the list moms can scan it for you.

Does Socknitters have an official symbol for members to wear to events
so they can recognize each other?
Yes, the Socknitters symbol is a mismatched pair of mini-socks pinned together
at the cuff. One sock is purple with white heels and cuffs and the other is
whatever you'd like it to be. The odd sock can be traded with other members
for fun. An example of our symbol, and a pattern for it, can be found on the
DYOS
Photo Page and
it can be seen at the top of our home page at http://www.socknitters.com
These socks were designed by Linda Nelson, the originator
of the socknitter's list.
Is there a
place where Socknitters members can post original patterns for others to use?
Yes, Socknitters maintains a page for pattern created by members. Our
Design Your Own Sock page can be found at: DYOS Patterns
I don't know what
all those abbreviations in the posts mean. Is there an easy way to find out
besides admitting I don't know and writing to the list?
There is a list of abbreviations used in posts and their meanings at:
Abbreviations
I have a question
not covered in these FAQs, who should I contact?
Socknitters maintains a list of people to contact for various reasons
at: Socknitter Contacts
This list is a work in progress and will be added to whenever the need arises. Should you have a question that isn't answered here, please let me know ([email protected]) so that I can find the answer and post it here. Eventually, I will categorize the questions, but for now since there are so few, they are basically in the order in which I thought of them.
