These needles don't have the smoothest finish and the yarn tends to stick where the name is embossed in the needle. In sizes 2 or smaller they do bend out of shape but they are very lightweight if that is a consideration for you.

These needles are just excellent for me. I agree with a previous comment that the yarn sometimes does not slip as well where the name is embossed into the birch, but after much use they develop a nice patina and things move more smoothly. However, size 2 and under I consistently wind up bending (have not broken one yet) at this length, however I did manage to crack one making it basically unusable as the crack snags the fiber. Glad they come in sets of five. One of the plusses is that I have not had to fight stitches slipping off the points and this is a benefit when working a complex pattern. All in all I have been very pleased with them and while I would like to try some other (non metal) needles I love my Brits and definitely prefer them over metal.

I like the wood dpn made by Brittany. They have a good finish, light weight and sturdy. I do not like metals. They are too slippery and heavy. They fall out of the stitches easily.
