These French needles are plastic covered metal. The really small sizes such as size 1 US and 0 do bend slightly when using but I haven't ever managed to break them. Each size is a different color and they come in sets of five. The points are nice and tapered.

Unfortunately they are discontinued but I do believe Patternworks still sells a few sizes.
