IMHO
the points are just fine... not too pointy but pointy enough for my loose
knitting style. And of course the smaller the needle size the narrower the
point. One great thing is that they come in a wonderful range of sizes
beginning with US 0 and going up to US 15. Insofar as sturdy, I
would definitely say Pony Pearls are sturdy. I've been using Crystal
Palace (until I discovered PPs) and I have broken more than one of the
smaller sizes. The metal strip inside the PP's (every size up to US 5)
makes them strong and yet still flexible.
Well,
I finally got around to using the Pony Pearls I bought a couple months
back - started a pair of "simple socks" (64 sts 2X2 rib to be
continued onto the instep, a multicolor socka) on them.
I really like the Pony Pearls. They are "just right" needles -
they are less slippery (and less hard on the hands) than metal, and they
are less "grabby" than wood. They are plastic, but at least the
smaller sizes (the kind I have) have a metal insert to keep them in shape.
If you find wood needles a little too slow and metal too hard or too
likely to drop stitches, you might want to try these.
