| Re needle size: I knit loosely; most
people will get the same results I do with a US 7 or 8. I cast on 40 stitches;
do the heel on 20 stitches and reserve the other 20 for the instep. I have knit
literally hundreds of socks from this yarn, starting when I lived in Maine,
where it gets cold in the winter. These socks are WARM, and they are wonderful
boot and clog socks. You can't wear them in your everyday shoes (unless you
ordinarily wear your shoes quite loose!). I don't reinforce the heels or toes,
but knitting this yarn as tightly as I do keeps the heels and toes from wearing
out for several years. I machine wash in cold water, dry flat, and they last
practically forever. This yarn comes in a wide and beautiful range of colors. |
