is one of my favorite yarns! It feels nice to work with - it has a
pleasant "springiness". I have made two pairs of socks - one out
of the 8-ply naturals (the oldest of the two pairs, about a year and a
half old now) and the Amber socks from Folk Socks out of the regular
8-ply. They are both holding up well, although the "Naturals"
yarn seems to show less pilling (but then again that could be because I
wore the Amber socks on a long trip and then when I washed them, forgot
them in the sink in soapy water for a whole day!) I have machine washed
both socks with good success but have not tried machine drying them (the
manufacturer says you can machine wash on gently but you should dry flat).
My Amber socks came out a bit tight but I didn't really swatch (bad girl!) and I don't think my gauge was quite as specified in the pattern. Otherwise, it made a great yarn for the socks. |
