Socknitters Mini-Sock

Wildfoote or other fingering yarn in two colors. Size one double pointed needles.
Finished sock is approximately 1-3/4 tall by 1-3/4 long.
Directions are written for the "odd" sock. Change colors accordingly to make our purple and white one.
With MC cast on 18 stitches, 5 on needle one, 8 on needle two, 5 on needle three  
Work in K1/P1 rib for four rows 

Change to CC, and working in stockinette stitch, knit two rows 
Change to MC, knit two rows 
Change to CC, knit two rows 

Heel flap: 
With MC, K5 turn 
Purl across stitches on needles one and three (10 sts) turn
Continue in stockinette stitch on 10 sts for five rows, ending with purl row

Heel shaping:
K6, K2 tog, turn
P3, P2 tog, turn  
K3, K2 tog, turn 
P3, P2 tog, turn 
K3, K2tog, turn  
P3, P2 tog, turn 
K 4

Gusset: 
Pick up and knit 4 sts along side of heel flap
K8 on instep needle
Pick up and knit 4 sts along side of heel flap 
Divide sts: 6 on needle one, 8 on needle two, 6 on needle three 
K 1 row
Change to CC, 
K 4, K2 tog. K8  Sl1, K1, psso, K 4
work one row even
Change to MC 
K3, K2 tog. K8, Sl1, K1, psso, K3
work one row even
Change to CC, knit two rows

Toe Shaping:
Change to MC K2, K2tog. Sl1, K1, psso, K4, K2 tog. Sl1, K1, psso, K2
Work one row even 
K1, K2 tog. Sl1, K1, psso, K2, K2 tog. Sl1, K1, psso, K1
Work one row even. Slip stitches on needle three to needle one.
Kitchner stitch toes together.
