Originally published in German (1996), this new book from Sterling Publishing Co. is a wonderful encyclopedia of knitting techniques. Everything a knitter could possibly need to know is here, illustrated in fabulous close-up color photographs and clear, easy-to-understand narrative. The book starts with a chapter on Basic Techniques, then moves on to Perfect Details, Finishing, Special Techniques, Decorative Details, and Practical Tips. Primarily a technique book, it does also contain a few basic sweater patterns. There's even a four-page chapter on knitting socks, with each part of the sock worked in a different color for clarity. The book is a good investment at $29.95 (order through Amazon.com for a significant discount!).
