This is my very favorite of all my knitting books - and I have many! So many nice choices of hats, scarves, gloves and mittens... and all by different designers. This book can "grow" with you, as it contains patterns from simple to challenging. These patterns were designed for handspun yarn, but also work very well in comercial yarns. One of my favorite features of this book is the use of sidebars to include variations of basic techniques. Some of these are, making a pom-pom, kitchener stitch, buttonholes, ribbings, cast-ons, and cast-offs. Many other special techniques are also included. Along with the patterns, there is also some little story of how the item came to be, or how it was passed on through the family, or some interesting little facts about it. This makes the book friendly and fun to read, not just technical. It's great! |
