Joy has self-published a wonderful little book.  The book starts out with a basic (generic) ribbed sock pattern and then she gives  26 different patterns that can be used for the cuff of that sock.  The book is printed in black and white, and while the pictures don't do justice to the real thing, they sure can get the creative juices flowing!  In addition to the cuffs, Joy also provides 3 different heels (the French, Dutch, and Peasant) and 2 toe techniques.  The book can be ordered directly from Joy at [email protected]
