I can't belive it - I'm not the only one trying to make dance socks. We purchased a kilt in Canada last summer, and only recently found out that we can't get socks to match. I, too, have been trying to figure out how to "marl" the yarn. I have ordered Wildfoote sock yarn, but have not recieved it yet. Do you think this is a wise choice? There aren't any local shops that sell yarn, so I am stuck with the internet. Any suggestions you have would be helpful. By the way, I have a book (now out of print) by Veronica Gainford on knitting kilt hose and even she had trouble acquiring marled yarn. She said she ended up purchasing white 4 ply and 2 ply fingering. She had half of each dyed green and ä kind spinner "plyed the white and green 2 ply together for her". Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I am not an experienced knitter, but fortunately our tartan is only two colors. Good luck!
