If you want to reknit the cast-on upward, you're going to have to do the entire ribbing. The reason is that knitting in the opposite direction, the stitches are off by half a stitch. In stockinette this doesn't show, but in ribbing it does
Alternative, lazy-knitter suggestion: remove the cast-on, pick up the ribbing stitches and instead of trying to knit in ribbing, knit a couple of rows of garter stitch. Bind off more loosely than you can imagine possible. I don't know how this will look, but it's a pretty small time investment to find out. Please report back to the list if you try this!
