Ann McDonald's Kool-Aid Socks

I used three different colors of KoolAid on Kroy 3-ply. The yellow color was not what I wanted to I plopped a bit of the darkest color in to it. Figuring that three skeins were two pairs of socks, I did three skeins at once. After I put the balls of yarn into individual skeins, I soaked them out in warm water. I mixed up the powder in about a half cup of warm water and poured it over the skeins in stripes. I wanted lots of off-white between the color patches. They were heat-set in the microwave. I use oven roasting bags for this because they are acrylic and won't melt like plastic ones sometimes do. My advice is to knit both socks at once - the colors are NOT going to be uniform from skein to skein no matter how careful you think you are.
