Lesson One - Border and first row of entrelac pattern

3 ply fingering yarn

2.5 mm needles 

gauge; 36 sts=4 inches

 

Cast on 112 sts.  Join in rounds. 

R1. (k1, yo, k5, sl1, k2tog, psso, k5, yo), repeat ( - ) around.

R2. Purl.

Repeat these rows 4 times. ( 8 rows) 

Begin entrelac.

   [ k7, turn,

                    *p7, turn, k6, sl1, yo, k1, pass yo and slip st over, turn*. 

                     Repeat * -- * 6 times more.].

You should be back to the k1 of previous round. Repeat [ --] 7 times more. First round of el rectangles complete.
