Lesson Three - preparing for the heel

NOTE: The el portion of your socks is now complete. The next thing we must do is arrange our sts so that rounds are knitted straight. The problem with the final round of el triangles is proportion, so I have tried to do something that will fill in and still look right.

Instructions: *With right side of work facing, pick up and knit 5 sts along edge of rec, knit the 5 sts along top of next rec,(10 sts on ndle),

turn.

Slip1, p5, turn,

slip1, k1, turn,

slip1, p2, turn,

slip1, k3, turn,

slip1, p4, turn,

slip1, k5, turn,

slip1, p6, turn,

slip1, k7, turn,

slip1, p8, turn,

slip1, k9, DO NOT TURN.*

Repeat * - * around sock. (80 sts). Knit 1 round. Work in k1, p1 rib for 2 ¼ inches [ 5.5 cm].

Next lesson will be adjusting for size, turning the heel and working through to the toe.
